2019 USA BOX IGP Working Championship

It really just dawned on me that I never wrote a piece about the USA BOX IGP Championship. Geez. My brain. Well this year it was in Rockford, IL which was on about a 5-6 hour drive for me. I took Tia and Capone to attempt to get our BH again. I honestly didn’t think I was going to be able to go until a week before because of finances with hotel. However a friend let me stay at her house (which happened to be where the championship was being held).

So I got up there Friday afternoon used the field a little bit with both Capone and Tia. I was super confident in Capone but Tia not so much. But during run through on Friday she didn’t do so badly. After that I got cleaned up and we all went to dinner where we almost got kicked out for foul language (no surprise! LOL). But restaurant had the best lobster ravioli though.

So Saturday was D-day. Capone and I were paired up with Minna and Beso. We had the long down first. I put Capone in long down, walked away and bladed my body towards him and he got up and came towards me. The judge, Waine Singleton, let me put him back in a down. He did NOT get back up. I was sure we failed. But Waine let me do the obedience routine. I was so confused. So I just was like ‘ok this is good practice’ so me and Capone just did the whole obedience routine. He did everything well except his recall. He ran behind me then came in front and then did his finish. But I was ok with that especially in my mind because I’m still thinking we failed. So after that I approached the judge and he said come on over for critique and I’m like “We failed right?” and he shook his head and said “Just come on over”. At the end of critique we passed and moved on to traffic portion in which Capone passed with flying colors so he earned his BH title. So proud of my boy. Love that man. The reason we passed is because when Capone got up from his long down Minna hadn’t started her obedience routine and it didn’t count so the judge has the authority to let me reset the dog. Below are some pics from Capone’s BH.

So Sunday was a different story. Tia was her typical self and right when I took her lead off she ran free. Minna suggested I try CBD Oil next time I try. Chris (Minna’s husband) suggested using my e-collar to fix the problem. She’s got to at least get her BH. But other than that it was a very fun weekend. Cant wait for next year.
